
Job brief
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Copywriter / Proofreader to join our team. As a Copywriter / Proofreader, you will play a pivotal role in crafting compelling written content while ensuring its accuracy, clarity, and adherence to our brand voice. Your ability to write engaging copy and meticulously proofread materials will contribute to delivering high-quality communication to our clients and stakeholders. The ideal candidate should possess at least an NQF Level 5 qualification in the field of Copywriting, Proofreading, English, Writing, or a related discipline, along with a proven track record of 3 years or more of relevant professional experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop creative and persuasive written content for a variety of channels, including marketing materials, advertisements, website copy, social media, and more.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, marketers, and subject matter experts, to understand project objectives and produce effective messaging.
- Proofread and edit written materials to ensure grammatical accuracy, proper syntax, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.
- Review and refine content to enhance clarity, coherence, and overall impact, while maintaining a consistent brand tone and voice.
- Conduct research to ensure accuracy and credibility of information presented in written materials.
- Adapt writing style and tone to suit different audiences, platforms, and communication objectives.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality output.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve copywriting and proofreading skills.
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide feedback and contribute to creative brainstorming sessions.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of an NQF Level 5 qualification in Copywriting, Proofreading, English, Writing, or a related field.
- 3 years or more of professional experience in copywriting and proofreading roles.
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and engaging copy.
- Proficiency in using style guides and a keen eye for detail in proofreading.
- Familiarity with digital marketing strategies and SEO principles is a plus.
- Creative thinking and the ability to generate innovative ideas and concepts.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant writing and editing tools.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A portfolio showcasing diverse writing samples and proofreading work is highly desirable.
